OCM Promotions acquires Second Step Advertising
OCM Promotions (asi/286671), a Greater Detroit-area promotional products distributor, has acquired Wyandotte, MI-based distribution company Second Step Advertising. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
Founded in 2003 by Howard Aston, OCM Promotions is a diverse business, offering services that include promotional products as well as marketing/business consulting, incentive/recognition programs, copywriting, direct mail programs, graphic design and print, digital marketing, photography and video solution.
Aston, owner and chairman of OCM, said Second Step would be a great addition to his growing business.
“Al Bates, the founder of Second Step Advertising, was a highly respected friend and colleague in the industry who was dedicated to his clients and his business for nearly 46 years,” Aston said. “We look forward to continuing to provide Second Step customers with the quality corporate branding solutions they have relied on since Second Step, as well as introducing them to new digital, promotional and marketing solutions. »
Alexa Bates, Al’s daughter, said, “We were looking for a partner who would deliver the quality of branded products, services and solutions that Second Step Advertising clients have received from my father and our team over the 46 years. We are happy to announce that we have found this partner in Howard and OCM Promotions.
Aston noted that Second Step Advertising will continue to be marketed under this name. Alexa Bates and a Second Step staff member are still involved with the company as a consultant. OCM’s purchase focused on certain Second Steps assets and the company’s account list.
Al Bates died at the end of 2019 following a battle with cancer. The Detroit native was a past president and member of the Michigan Promotional Products Association Hall of Fame. He was also a member and past president of the Southern Wayne Regional Chamber of Commerce.
